A
Little About Our Town of Remote!
Situated along Highway 42, a major east-west link
between
the southern Oregon coast and Interstate 5 near Roseburg, Remote
isn’t
really that isolated, although there are many lonely miles in every
direction.
Situated in a small valley amidst the many convoluted folds of the
Coast
Range, Remote was home to pioneer settlers. Its location along an
early-day
military road – later to become Highway 42 --
brought more outside
contact. A general store serves as the only vestige of commerce, and as
an informal museum of local history.
